Representing the concerns of Geospatial Industry in India, AGI plays a proactive role in advocating the use of geospatial technologies in different sectors and is influencing the policy formulation and decision making. In recognition of its efforts to bring in conducive policy environment for promotion and propagation of geospatial technologies usage, AGI has been inducted as one of the select Members of the National Advisory Board for National GIS.
National GIS Program is an ambitious initiative of the Government of India to help the country ensure that the gains of development to the most needy. With National GIS, the Government departments can determine scientifically the location of the most needy plan the disbursement at the right places in accountability, responsibility and transparency in public and national development activities. The applications of National GIS will not only benefit the domain of governance but also help in areas of national security and strategic applications. At the same time, National GIS will help enterprises to build advance Technology based solutions to support of these enterprise activities for nation building while bringing in efficiency in their businesses. Citizens too would be benefitted from the National GIS in their citizen-centric interactions.
AGI’s engagement at the advisory level with the National GIS Program will enable evolution implementation of a national vision which integrates diverse sector and projects to promote an all round holistic and inclusive development.
